Efficiency and ergonomic issues: The dvorak keyboard

  • The dvorak keyboard: The well-known "qwerty"-keyboard was designed in order to make type writing machines work reliably rather than to make the life of the person type writing easy. Using computers, we have the freedom to use any keyboard layout we like. After studying the english language for more than 10 years for this project, Dvorak developed a novel keyboard layout which is designed to optimise speed and comfort while type writing. Here it is:
